  4. Random Facts: Fatsia gets its name from the word 'fatsi' which used to mean 'eight' in Japanese. This is in reference to the eight main lobes on each leaf.

Thank you so much for your ID of Fatsia japonica.....I have been searching for its identity for two years! It came in a basket of other indoor plants, but as it grew larger I had to plant it outdoors. I live in SW Washington State and did not think it would survive, but survive and flourish it did. It is over 6' tall and gorgeous. A lovely addition to any garden and very hardy.
